Tithing – Part 6

Did you read Hebrews 5:7-10 and further defined in Hebrews 7:1-5?!

Here is the order:

1) You’ve got to have the tithe,
2) the person who presents the tithe,
3) and a high priest to receive the tithe.
4) And, some way or another, He’s got to be able to return a blessing back to the tither.

Many have thought that all we’ve got to do is tithe or give and that’s that, but that’s incomplete.

Anytime the tithe is given the tither is empowered. Tithing the tithe is the process by which you present your tenth. This is done by “speaking” over the tithe (watering it) before you sow it, planting it into the kingdom.

We present the tithe with words, our High Priest takes the tithe, looks over the promises and returns the promise for the tithe. He’ll bless us in the same way that He blessed Abraham.

If you’ve got a sick body and you’re standing on the promise of healing, then you ought to take that tithe, that day, in what the Bible refers to as your “evil day”, and present it to the High Priest, Jesus. Go to Him and say, “I present to You my tithe, in the name of Jesus. I speak to You and say that You are the Healer in my life.”

He takes the tithe, looks back over the agreement and says, “There’s healing here. I’ve got the tithe. You’ve got the promise. Put healing back on her because she gave the tenth.”

God’s promises being kept in your life are all based on how you handle the tithe!

Jesus is the High Priest over the covenant!

Hebrews 7:5, “And verily they that are of the sons of Levi, who receive the office of the priesthood, have a commandment to take the tithes of the people.”

God is using the priest to receive His tithe. That’s interesting! The only people who could go into the presence were the high priests. I can imagine what would happen if someone was to decide they were just as anointed as the priest, and go into the Holy of Holies. They’d have to drag his dead body out by the rope that was put around him. As long as people could hear the bell they knew everything was alright. If it stopped ringing then everyone knew the high priest had messed up that week.

In those days you didn’t see everyone including their cousin claiming to be called into the ministry.

Hebrews 7:5b, “…that is, of their brethren, though they come out of the loins of Abraham.”

But look at Hebrews 7:6-7, “But he whose descent is not counted from them received tithes of Abraham, and blessed him that had the promises. And without all contradiction the less is blessed of the better.”

That’s why Jesus has to be our High Priest. No one is ever going to be better than Him. But now the lesser… you and I… when we give our tithes, we will be empowered to prosper and to excel by the greater. It’s His job to carry out the promise. The order of Melchizedek is the process of tithing.

Skeptics and people who prefer not to tithe will insist that the subject of tithing doesn’t appear in the New Testament. However, if you’re not aware of what the order of Melchizedek is, you won’t know that the Word on tithing does indeed appear when Jesus is on the scene.

It DOES appear past Malachi!

Speaking of Malachi…

I’ll save that for another time.
